The development chronicle
Game development rarely moves in a straight line. It advances through focused tests: a forest, a save system, a repair prototype, five hundred rabbits. Each experiment below added another piece to the world that exists today.
October 2023
An early environment test asks the first big question: can the forest feel dense, readable, and worth getting lost in? The terrain, trees, light, and atmosphere begin to establish the scale of the Oasis.

March 2024
Character creation and saving turn a technical prototype into the beginning of a persistent journey. This is where the player stops being a temporary test pawn and starts becoming an inhabitant of the world.

August 2024
This prototype explored a future building and repair loop: changing the landscape, maintaining what you create, and giving gathered resources another purpose. The system is not implemented in the current build and remains planned for completion before launch.

April 2025
Five hundred rabbits make for a memorable stress test. Beneath the humor is serious development work: learning how the world behaves when it is crowded, active, and pushed far beyond an ordinary encounter.

April 2025
A chest test may look like a small milestone, but it connects discovery to reward. Containers, equipment, and loot interactions begin turning exploration into a repeatable adventure loop.

May 2025
Buff timers add consequence to moment-to-moment choices. Temporary advantages, readable status effects, and timing create another layer of decision-making beyond movement and basic combat.

May 2025
Individual experiments start behaving like a game. This systems test brings separate mechanics into the same playable space and exposes the relationships that need to work together.

May 2025
Tree chopping closes the distance between the player and the environment. The forest is no longer scenery alone; it becomes a source of materials, decisions, and the practical work of survival.

Step inside the world
The chronicle explains how Survive The Oasis was made. These are the places, systems, and journeys that the work is building toward.

Places
Sunlit forests, winter fields, settlements, fortresses, and the fire-eyed skull cave give the Oasis a growing visual language of its own.

Systems
Exploration leads to gathering, equipment, quests, and combat. Building and repair remain planned systems for completion before launch.

Journeys
The current vision reaches beyond solitary survival toward cooperative expeditions, hidden places, and dungeon exploration.

The newest chapter
Survive The Oasis has been in development for several years. The next stretch is about deepening the connected systems, expanding the places worth exploring, and continuing the long work of turning a personal project into a finished game.
